Alright we’re just about six weeks into this parenting thing and I honestly don’t know how I would survive without modern technology! I’ve decided to do a round up of my top five favorite apps, new parent edition.
Available for both Apple and Android, this app is a god send for the usual questions of “when did he eat last?” and “did you poop today?” This app is super user friendly with an interface that is straightforward and easy to navigate, it allows you to track when and how much your baby ate, diaper changes, sleep patterns, and a nifty milestone tool that helps you keep track of all the other little things baby does on the daily. I personally love this app because it can sync up to other devices. This feature is awesome for when my husband has the baby for the day because he can simply log the baby’s activities into the app and take away the guess work for when I get home. What’s also great is you can add multiple babies, so when my mom is babysitting both my son and his twin cousin Bailey, she can keep track without losing her mind. I don’t know where I’d be without this app because it allows you to monitor any changes in babies eating, sleeping, and diapering habits, which can come in handy at doctors’ appointments, and provides an overall piece of mind for any anxious new parents.
I was shown this app by a friend early on in my pregnancy and continue to use it to this day! Available for both Apple and Android, I really like how the app provides articles that are short and to the point about all things parenting, and updates weekly with a blurb about how your baby is developing and what to expect along the way. It’s a great app to open up and scroll through while trying to stay awake during those middle of the night feedings! Would highly recommend to all the new moms and dads out there looking for an easy to maneuver parenting app!
This one is for all the moms and dads out there who may be trying to lose the baby weight or just want to get healthy! I love it because you can log your meals, water intake, and exercise all in one handy place. For me this is great because often I get so busy that I forget to eat, so by looking at what I’ve eaten I can make sure I take in a healthy number of calories for the day. Self-care is super important when you have a little human to take care of, because if you aren’t taking care of yourself, who’s going to take care of the baby? This app is available for Apple and Android and is easy to maneuver, allowing you to take stock in your own health in a quick and effortless way.
This one comes in handy when grocery shopping, available for Apple and Android, it basically allows you to earn money for items you buy while shopping. Like most people I was skeptical about an app that is supposed to earn you money, but after researching thoroughly I decided to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised! It’s not a get rich quick scheme but rather it provides rebates for certain products, such as formula or a gallon of milk, and if the item you buy matches the item on the rebate, all you have to do is scan in the item barcode and your receipt and you earn the rebate. The cash rebates go into your account and you can cash out once you hit the $20 minimum. When you cash out your funds can go into a PayPal or Venmo account, or onto a gift card to a plethora of stores including Walmart and Target. The funds don’t expire so you can slowly earn your way until you want to cash out. I recently earned a $2 rebate on buying formula, so the products are things that normal people do buy and the number of stores that the app supports is lengthy. At the end of the day it’s like using coupons without having to bring them to the store, and anything that saves a few dollars on stuff we already buy is always a plus.
Who doesn’t take six thousand photos of the little bundle of joy that your life revolves around? Picsart is a photo editing app that allows you to edit pictures, add text, and make collages to your hearts content! I love it because it is super easy to use, you can upload multiple photos for collages, and when your finished it is as easy as pressing a button to either share the photo to social media, or save to your phone for safe keeping. You can get this app on both Apple and Android devices, and you don’t even need to create an account to use, which is pretty convenient as most apps require at least an email and password nowadays. The app also offers an extensive amount of effects and editing tools that will make your pictures stand out, for whatever purpose you edit, this apps for you!
So there you have it, my top five favorite apps as a new parent! I don’t know how people survived parenthood without smartphones, but I take heart in the fact that with the help of technology I’ve made it through the parenting journey so far!
