New England Baby Book Club: Week One

Last Saturday we took a trip to our local library and after reading three books, we decided to pick some out to take home! I had most of the say in the choosing however the board books were entirely Ezra’s, but after spending forty minutes in our favorite place, we left with five awesome reads for the week!
1. Cinderella Bunny by Jan Lewis
The cover features a furry tail and a bunny with a magic wand, what more do you need? Telling the story of Cinderella with a furry twist, it was fun to introduce the classic tale in a new way.
2. I Am Your Parent, You Are My Child by Maryann K. Cusimano
This classic poem features a teddy bear parent and child as it reads through the lines in both English and Spanish. I love introducing new languages to Ezra and this was a really good way to get some of the Spanish language into the mix.
3. Bath Time by Eileen Spinelli
Ezra LOVES bath time, so this seemed like the perfect choice for our pre-bath story time! A quirky little penguin with a long list of toys needed for the bath, would recommend to bath enthusiasts young and old.
4. Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, Said the Sloth by Eric Carle
Who doesn’t adore Eric Carle? Being an avid fan of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, it was fitting that an Eric Carle gem was thrown in this week’s mix. Filled with a whole slew of exotic animals and a very articulate sloth, this was definitely a title that will make its way to Ezra’s permanent collection.
5. Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
This one we had at home already, but it truly is such a fun read! Following a witch and the ever growing menagerie that fits on her broom, this story is more than just a Halloween board book. Ezra actually even cuddled up with me as I read this one, so it has a special place in my heart.
Stay tuned as we update the New England Baby Book Club every week, feel free to read along, or share some of your favorites to be added to weeks to follow!
